It was September 2024 when Bonterra acquired DonorDrive, a provider of peer-to-peer and digital fundraising solutions. A few months earlier it acquired fundraising platform EveryAction.
The acquisitions are part of Bonterra’s drive to build, acquire, and integrate technology. Bonterra’s leadership’s plan is to double the size of philanthropy during the next decade by enabling trust-based relationships between funders, volunteers and the nonprofits they support. The hope is to fuel an increase in charitable giving from the current between 2% and 2.5% of U.S. gross domestic to 3% by 2033.
“The acquisition of OneCause is a strategic investment that accelerates innovation across the nonprofit sector. With OneCause, the Bonterra Network becomes the most modern, unified suite of best-in-class fundraising solutions – empowering organizations to inspire generosity, streamline every interaction, and deliver unforgettable event experiences,” Scott Brighton, CEO of Bonterra, said via a statement. “By strengthening our capabilities in fundraising and engagement, we’re ensuring nonprofits can capture every available dollar while giving donors the polished, confidence-building experiences they deserve.”
OneCause adds more than 6,000 nonprofits to the Bonterra Network. It also broadens the suite of fundraising solutions available in the Bonterra Network, spanning donor management, email marketing, online fundraising, offline fundraising, peer-to-peer fundraising, auctions and ticketed-events.
“Together, we’ll provide smarter insights, stronger connections, and more opportunities for organizations to grow their revenue. OneCause brings more than 15 years of expertise helping nonprofits raise more through events, auctions, and online fundraising. We’re excited to expand that impact as part of the Bonterra Network,” Steve Johns, CEO of OneCause, said via a statement.
This acquisition is part of the goal at Bonterra — to increase charitable giving from 2.5% of US GDP to 3% by 2033.
