Froehlich Leaves St. Jude To Join GoFundMe

Steve Froehlich is the new chief customer growth officer at GoFundMe, a role focused on driving success across GoFundMe’s community of more than 200 million users and organizations. He most recently was chief revenue officer of ALSAC, the fundraising organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Froehlich will play a key role in advancing the GoFundMe’s goal to help grow charitable giving beyond 2% of U.S. gross domestic product where it has hovered for decades.

His team will directly support the fundraising success of the thousands of nonprofit organizations using GoFundMe Pro, while helping both nonprofits and individual fundraisers unlock the full value of GoFundMe’s innovative fundraising tools, according to a statement from GoFundMe.

Froehlich will be responsible for overseeing customer success, sales, and growth for nonprofit customers. Working with product, technology, marketing and go-to-market leaders, he will focus on ensuring that individuals seeking help, nonprofits advancing their missions, and communities rallying in moments of need all receive seamless support, innovative fundraising strategies, and industry-leading outcomes.

While at ALSAC St. Jude, Frohlich was responsible for all aspects of the development team including mass marketing, events, corporate, major gifts and planned giving. His team quadrupled revenue from $700 million when he started to more than $2.8 billion. St. Jude became the largest single-cause operating charity for cash donations — with more than a half billion dollars raised each year through its digital channels. Prior to his time at ALSAC, he led fundraising teams at the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) that drove monthly donor recruitment through iconic television commercials.

“Steve brings a rare combination of deep nonprofit experience and proven growth leadership at the highest levels of the industry,” said Tim Cadogan, CEO at GoFundMe. “He is widely trusted and respected across the nonprofit community, having led fundraising for organizations spanning animal welfare, health services, environmental protection, historic preservation, and domestic violence services. Through his work, and his service on multiple nonprofit fundraising boards, Steve has gained firsthand insight into the challenges nonprofits face. His leadership will help us deepen our partnerships with charitable organizations, accelerate their fundraising growth, and enable more support for people and organizations across the entire GoFundMe community.”
