CASE Survey To Be Revamped

case-nonprofit

The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and consulting firm Marts & Lundy are joining forces to transform the Survey of U.S. Educational Fundraising Campaigns into a global, online benchmarking tool called CampaignSource.

The CASE–Marts & Lundy Global CampaignSource aims to provide education institutions broader and deeper insight about their fundraising campaigns. Following a series of focus group meetings with stakeholders around the world over the next year, CASE and Marts & Lundy research staff will revamp the existing survey to:

  • Adapt the survey to address CASE’s more than 3,600 members in 81 countries;
    Enable annual data collection rather than a biennial snapshot;
  • Align the campaign survey with data from other CASE surveys, including the Voluntary Support of Education (VSE), Ross-CASE Survey of Charitable Giving to Universities, CASE-CCAE surveys, and CASE’s new Alumni Engagement Metrics; and,
  • Provide members access to campaign data via CASE reporting tools, enabling year-over-year benchmarking as well as comparisons with selected peer groups.

Last conducted in 2015, the survey has historically gone to colleges, universities, and schools in North America that report data on institutional demographics, campaign goals and duration, fund uses and donor profiles, among other variables.

“Entering this partnership with CASE is a natural next step in Marts & Lundy’s commitment to invest in knowledge for the greater good,” President and CEO Phil Hills said.

“CampaignSource will provide an important resource to advancement professionals and educational leaders worldwide,” CASE President and CEO Sue Cunningham said in a press release announcing the partnership.

CASE last year launched AMAtlas, a global resource for advancement metrics, research, and analytics. Earlier this month, it released its first-ever global snapshot of post-secondary giving trends.

CASE has offices in Washington, D.C., London, Singapore and Mexico City. Member institutions include more than 3,600 colleges and universities, primary and secondary independent and international schools, and nonprofit organizations. CASE serves nearly 91,000 practitioners. Founded in 1926, Marts & Lundy in Lyndhurst, N.J. provides comprehensive strategic consulting services, including campaign planning and counsel, communications, analytics and talent development.
