The average gift of cryptocurrency during 2025 was $11,019 across The Giving Block Platform, with 21% of the gifts were valued at $100,000. The average gift was more — $1,704 — if it came via a donor-advised fund.
The majority of gifts (76%) ranged between $15 and $100,000, according to data in 2026 Annual Report on Crypto Philanthropy & Digital Fundraising Innovation.
More than $100 million in donations of digital currency were processed via the Giving Block Platform during 2025, according to an announcement from the firm. Bitcoin (BTC), followed by Ripple USD (RLUSD) and USD Coin (USDC) were the most widely used digital currencies.
Donors in New York (37%) and California (26%) led the nation in the number of cryptocurrency gifts to charity on the platform. Education (21%), health and medicine (16%), food and water (13%), children and youth (12%), and animals (7%) were the top causes receiving cryptocurrencies.
Crypto giving in 2025 followed a clear seasonal pattern, with donors showing their strongest activity during the final stretch of the year. Roughly 59% of all crypto donations were made during the third and fourth quarters of the year, the data showed. December recorded the highest transaction volume of any month.
“A new era of Digital Fundraising is here,” Ben Pousty, president of The Giving Block, said via a statement. “Nonprofits that make it seamless for the next generation of donors to give whatever asset they hold, however they choose, directly within their website and mobile experience will win in the future.”
Online stock giving directly on nonprofit websites is quickly becoming a powerful non-cash fundraising opportunity. As more young donors build wealth in the stock market, they’re increasingly choosing to donate stock directly rather than cash — unlocking larger gifts and meaningful tax advantages,, according to the report’s authors. The preferred way to donate stocks isn’t through a broker but rather digitally on a nonprofit’s website, data from The Giving Block shows. The average stock gift was $51,250, a 29% increase from 2024.
