RaiseRight, a fundraising solutions company that specializes in aiding local communities, has acquired Toronto-based FlipGive, a cashback app that raises money for youth sports. The acquisition announcement comes a little more than a month after RaiseRight announced it would rely on FlipGive’s platfrom to facilitate donations via online shopping.
According to a statement announcing the acquisition, FlipGive’s brand and team will continue to support participants through FlipGive’s Canadian operations. FlipGive’s offerings will be integrated into RaiseRight’s platform. Terms of the acquisition were not announced.
When online and retail outlets as well as restaurants participate in FlipGive, they designate a percentage of the purchase for charities, community groups or sports teams. According to FlipGive’s website, since the app’s founding in 2016 it has raised $50 million for designated recipients in conjunction with $425 million in sales made at more than 900 brands. FlipGive’s primary focus on youth sporting has benefitted more than 50,000 teams. The program boasts more than 900,000 members.
FlipGive is a Certified B Corporation – a for-profit company that has earned certification from B-Lab. B-Lab creates standards for companies regarding their social and environmental practices, accountability and transparency.
RaiseRight, Grand Rapids, Michigan, has offered digital fundraising solutions that focus on facilitating donations made at the time of purchase. Since being founded in 1994, Raise Right has steered more than $900 million to more than 50,000 community groups and nonprofits through the participation of more than 750 brand partners. RaiseRight specializes in “white label” solutions – fundraising platforms that can be tailored to a participating brand.
