GoFundMe Nonprofit Donors Jump 39%, Ireland Most Generous

More than 85,000 individuals launched GoFundMe effort on behalf of a nonprofit for the first time during 2025. The community-powered fundraising platform also generated 47 million direct-to-individuals donations, compared with 42 million a year ago, according to its Year in Help report.

The average donation ticked up from $77 a year ago to $82 during 2025. GoFundMe does not release annual fundraising totals. Social media shares, in which causes were promoted, also rose, from 55 million a year ago to 72 million. Throughout the year, individuals made 2.5 donations every second, up from 2 per second in 2024.

“GoFundMe is unique because it brings together people and nonprofits across 20 countries to help one another,” GoFundMe CEO Tim Cadogan via in a statement. “Whether people turn to the vast, engaged community on our platform to celebrate life’s greatest achievements or to support loved ones, neighbors, or causes close to their hearts, our goal is to make that easier — and to foster a trusted home for sustained help and connection. What we continue to see is that when needs grow, individuals and nonprofits respond with even more generosity.”

Ireland topped the list of most generous countries, based on per-capital donations made. The Land of a Thousand Welcomes was followed by the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy.
